Paul and Rob Bee have put a band together to play a benefit for the Ambulance Service in the North Lakes. The band will appear at the festival along with 6 other bands. Details call the number on this website

5th August

Paul has recorded a piece of music for the BBC 2 Series 'The Coast' concerning the loss of the St Annes Lifeboat 'The Laura Janet' and all of it's crew in the last century. The show was broadcast tonight.

Paul and Rob Bee have been booked for a series of shows at Center Parks in Cumbria North Lakes.These shows follow a run of shows there in 2004. Dates are on the Gig Page

17th July

Paul performed at The Open Championship at St Andrews in Scotland for members of the R & A Championship Committee and various Golf Luminaries and was rewarded with an opportunity to assist in distance marking the course for the Weekend play in the Open.!

Paul and Ian Parker performed at a charity show organized by the Scotland and Rangers Ex Captain, and current Blackpool FC Manager, Colin Hendry and his wife Denise.

Proceeds were to Preston Royal Hospital.

28th January

Paul played a Charity benefit with Hollies Keyboard player Ian Parker , Rob Bee on Sax, Jason Graham on drums and Brent Forbes on Bass. The show was a stormer and raised over £2000. Plans to repeat the event in October are underway. Thanks to Mike Dobie for the guest spot!!

Friday 19th December

Paul played in the historic Whitworth Hall in the University of Manchester for media giants Astra Zeneca. One of the most acoustically perfect rooms in the country, it has played host to some of the most distinguished academics in history including 15 Nobel Prize winners!

Sunday 14th December

Paul has been chosen to play the lead role in Guys and Dolls!
Paul will play
Sky Masterson, and Pauline Thomas is once again, the leading lady.
Rehearsals start in January 2004 and the show runs from 11th to 15th May 2004.

Friday 5th December

The Chrismas Mayhem begins!!!!!
The Fernlea Party Nights begin tonight and there will be a dozen shows featuring DJ Geza and Paul.
Over 3000 people have booked for the shows.

The Operatic Society that madeThe Pajama Game ,in which Paul played the lead, is producing Guys and Dolls in May of 2004.
Paul has signed up for the cast, and auditions are in December.

Monday 10th November

Paul played a show at the De Vere Hotel in the new 19 Bar. A great venue and one for 2004!

Tuesday 14th October

Paul played at Lancaster University with Rob Bee and a couple of Blues Bands. Very earthy! Paul played tracks from Living on the Edge and two new songs, still to be recorded.

Monday 29th September

Paul and Rob Bee are confirmed to appear on the 9th October 2003 at The Bower House Inn in Eskdale in the Lakes and all through October in Parc Oasis Whinfell Forest on Wednesdays.

Saturday 13th September

Paul performed at Pleasington Golf Club for their annual Dinner Dance.
At the end of the evening, all 145 guests left the dining room and joined Paul on the 18th Green and sang 'All You Need Is Love' There are little magical moments in this job, you know!

Monday 4th August

Paul Dobie and Rob Bee are continuing rehearsals and planning collaborations outside of the confirmed shows at Parc Oasis in the Lake District. The intention is to put together a show of classic rock songs!

Thursday 24th July

Paul and the rest of the cast are in final rehearsals for Razzle Dazzle! a Cabaret Review featuring songs from Les Miserables, Chicago! Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Sweet Charity and Oklahoma!
The show also celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the Jim Thomas penned Musical "Lorna" featuring the star of the original production Tony Halstead.

Wednesday 23rd July

Paul and Keyboard / Sax wizard Rob Bee played a killer show at the Parc Oasis in Whinfell Forest in the Lake District, performing new material and collaborations ending with a totally acoustic version of Bruce Springsteen's The River.
More dates for October are currently being negotiated. Confirmed dates will appear here.

Saturday 12th July

Paul is in rehearsal with Keyboard and Sax wizard Rob Bee who will be performing alongside Paul at the Parc Oasis show in Whinfell Forest in the Lake District.

Saturday 5th July

Paul played at Ribby Hall Holiday Village Summer Ball and lit the night up with a killer dance set. Guest Vocalist Steve Hall was in wild form!!

Wed. 25th June

Congratulations to Tony Benedict, Pauls ex Roadie, who now is a fantastic artist in his own right and is performing nightly in "The Kings Of Swing" In the world famous Tower Ballroom.

Mon. 23rd June

Paul played for a group of ex fighter pilots aged from 65 to 88! Some of whom had fought in World War II. A Great Honour.

Mon. 2nd June

Paul is playing a part in the forthcoming Cabaret show produced by the same Company that made The Pajama Game.
Rehearsals will last about 10 weeks. More will follow!

Wed. 28th May.

The Woodsmen are planning rehearsals with Sax Player Frank Harrington with a view to playing some groovy soul!!!

Sat 16th May.

The Woodsmen, featuring a suntanned Paul and Jason and sunburned Shaun returned to the Lowther Pavillion and did three dance sets.

Mon 12 th May.

Paul, Jason, Shaun and Paul's brother Mike played live in Frejus in the South of France on a trip to where Paul played and lived in the 80's.
A visit to the Cannes Film Festival followed, but attempts by the intrepid foursome to blag their way into the premier showing of Matrix Reloaded were sadly, entirely unsuccessful.

Thurs 8th May.

The Woodsmen played a charity ball at the Dalmeny Hotel where £1000 plus was raised. Drummer Jason Graham's Grandma came to the show and decided she liked the band after she was told it was us!!!

Paul performed with the Woodsmen at the De Vere Hotel, Blackpool. The band are now a five-piece with new man Len Hampson on keyboards and Mike Withers on guitar.

Friday 24th January.

Paul will be performing on friday nights at the De Vere Hotel throughout Summer 2003. A special date on 18th April 2003 will be followed by nearly every friday in July, August, September and October 2003.

Mike Withers and Woodsmen Jason Graham and Shaun Illson have rehearsed and performed live with Paul.
They are considering more live shows. The band has it's eye on Len Hampson, who jammed on keyboards with them. He may find himself pressganged! Watch this space!

Friday 10th January.

Paul is performing with Jason Graham and Shaun Illson of the Woodsmen and Mike Withers for the first time as a band. Mike needs a new 'Woodsman' name. We're thinking of 'Bushy'!

The gig is at The Clifton Arms Hotel in Lytham and is for the Society that produced Cinderella. Many Guest spots are anticipated!

Cinderella sold out its final performance and has proved the most successfull production in the society's long history. Congratulations to Vikki Cook and Pauline Thomas. Musician wise Jim Thomas , Jason Graham and Paul had a ball!

Friday 29th November.

Paul performed with Gwen Dickie from the 70's legends Rose Royce of Car Wash fame! What a voice! 'Wishing On A Star' was chilling. Roger De Courcey and Nookie Bear provided the comedy.

Friday 15th November.
Working on the remix and Re - Release of "Living On The Edge" and have added some additional vocals to a couple of the tracks. Release date now looks like the middle of December.

'Cinderella' rehearsals are going well with the cast into their last weeks of rehearsal. Paul and Jim Thomas are finalising the music.

Saturday 19th October.
Congratulations to Michelle Sheard
who celebrated her thirty-tenth birthday at Green Drive Golf Club!
A splendid time was had by all and Paul was joined onstage by ex Gasp and Sensible Shoes guitar / vocalist Alan Jones.

Friday 18th October.
The 'Living On The Edge' Album originally released in 1995 is being re - packaged, re - mixed and prepared for it's first release on CD.
(It was only released on tape when it came out at first)
It will contain two new songs which were written by Paul at the time but not recorded.

Release date will be in mid November and the CD will be available from here.

Monday 14th October.

Friday 11th October.
Rehearsals for Vicki Cook's production of Cinderella are progressing and Paul and Jim Thomas are rehearsing the music with the cast.
The talented and sparkling Emily Cook and Sarah Appleton who played Paul's daughter in Carousel are playing the Prince and Cinderella.

Wednesday 2nd October.

Paul is performing in front of an Imitation Ice Rink to a couple of hundred ice - skaters!
After careful consideration it has been decided to put the show on the stage area which is six feet above anyone who could go careering into all the equipment due to lack of skating skills!

Friday 13th September.

Paul performed at the venue for the upcoming Pantomine 'Cinderella'.(Paul is playing the music for the panto.)
As there were many cast members in the audience, Paul played a few songs from the show including a spirited rendition of 'Come What May' sung by Emily Cook and Sarah Appleton a.k.a. The Prince and Cinderella.

Monday 2nd September.

Paul performed at the Blackpool Illuminations Switch on Party at the De Vere Hotel on Friday 30th August.
There were 360 invited guests and Darius Danish popped in for a bop and a chat. A splendid time was had by all. At the show paul was asked to perform at the Reebok Stadium home of Bolton Wanderers Football Club.
Negotiations are in progress.

Sunday 25th August.

Paul has been asked to perform as part of the Blackpool Illuminations Switch on Party at the De Vere Hotel. Paul will be playing with Ronan Keating, The Sugababes, Toploader, Darius Danesh and The Bootleg Beatles. We will get some pictures for the website after the show.

Monday 11th August.
Paul played in Lincolnshire at a 40th birthday party on saturday night and as the weather was good it was decided to do it al fresco!
During the first set Paul was interrupted by the arrival of a surprise Ice Cream Van! It was fun to watch people trying to dance with a beer in one hand and a Mister Whippy with a flake in the other!
Further interuptions were created by the arrival of a nearly naked man covered in foam from the outdoor jacuzzi that one of the guests had poured four bottles of shampoo into!
The hardy perennials were still boppin' at 5am but it was decided to end the party at 5.30am as nobody wanted to frighten the postman and the milkman!
Commiserations to Mason and Rose 'Eval Kaneval' Cole who wrote off their caravan on the way home from the party!
Paul escaped on Sunday afternoon and pictorial evidence of this gig will appear on this page soon!

Thursday 8th August.
I am writing this at midnight on Thursday 8th August.
The Woodsmen
and myself have recorded three songs for the debut Woodsmen CD.
The tracks are 'Make Me Smile (Come up and see me)' 'Moondance' and 'Weather with You'
Most of Friday 9th August will be spent on the mixdown and the rest of the tracks recorded next week.
The CD should now be ready for release early in September 2002 so watch this space.

Rehearsal have begun in earnest for Cinderella! A great cast and some fab music which Paul is furiously learning including Come What May from Moulin Rouge. No doubt, a few songs from the show will be sneaking into Paul's repertoire.

Paul has been asked to play music for the forthcoming production of Cinderella in December 2002.
The show is produced by Vicki Cook and the musical director is Paul's leading lady from The Pajama Game, Pauline Thomas.

This will reunite Paul with Composer / Arranger Jim Thomas who taught him so much when he was starting out in music.

Paul played at Thornton Yacht Club on a sunny, Sunday afternoon and over half of the audience were listening to the music out on boats in the adjoining estuary!

Carousel sold out on 5 of its 7 performances, playing to over 3000 people.
Paul and Alison both got great reviews for their performances as did Paul Atkin and the nimble Sarah Appleton.
Joan Aitchison was her usual brilliant self singing You'll Never Walk Alone better than the Kop!

Paul Dobie is in the final rehearsal for his debut at Lowther Pavilion
Theatre in Lytham in the musical Carousel.

He is taking the role of Billy Bigelow, the central character of the show. Carousel is produced by Rosie Withers who is the wife of sometime partner in crime & music, Mike Withers.
Carousel
runs from 25th May 2002 until 1st June 2002.
Along with the fabulous Alison Chard as Julie and a fantastic cast, the show is set to be the big summer hit!
